The Father Bob Show #011
The Father Bob Show #011 (MP3 - 11.6MB - 32min)
This week the His Grace and I discuss:
- Pope Benedict XVI (or “B16″ as Bob says “the kids” are calling him) named 2005 “Anti-Gay Person of the Year”
John Heard - a Melbourne blogger who is Catholic and gay and a huge supporter of B16
B16’s opposition to abortion and embryonic stem cell research
Would Bob ever perform an exorcism?
And stuff about helping the less fortunate.
We’re running a competition this week. First person to submit the correct entry (listen to the show for details) will win a fancy little Byzantine arm band that Fr Bob has for you. Signed by Fr Bob himself!

Father Bob, you are the most cussing priest I have ever heard.
You might need to tone that use of four letter words down. That’s not a good model of Catholic behavior becoming a priest. Other than that, the show was interesting.
You ever heard of Father John Corapi, an American priest, has own shows on EWTN satellite TV station??? He served in the Army and was not a good Catholic for a long long time, he was ordained in the 80s and is the best witness to the Catholic Church I have ever heard. And I have never heard him utter a four letter word in all the talks on TV and radio I have heard him in. Might you take example of this fine priest’s demeanor? Just a heartfelt suggestion. Later

lewis, i thought podcasts were catholic…tell it as it is…i may be wrong…language is a matter of taste not good or bad…however,as paul advised, one should avoid giving offence.no offence intended.bobmaguire.

although i dont agree with swearing, i do do it. and your swearing makes me laugh bob :) I guess my opinion is that no one is perfect, even priests. So there isn’t much point trying to be a ‘good model’, but rather to point people to the perfect model of how to live your life - Jesus
keep up the good work bob

Duchess - DREAD? Wasn’t that one of James Bond’s arch enemies? Or was it Maxwell Smart’s? Anyway… can you tell me more about what you want?

Benetton was the company using the confronting photos to advertise their clothing.
Have only just started listening (and after a marathon of 8 hrs of father Bob I’m only one show off catching up). I’d love to hear more on the church without borders stuff (I get to talk with a a lot of disaffected 20-30 somethings who are committed to Christianity but are not keen on church) Also I amy have some ideas on the getting volunteers out in the street thing as I coordinate a program in WA that does just that. http://www.drugarmwa.org.au/streetvan.htm . Any way, really appreciate the show keep up the good work! Also can you get rid of the ridiculous noise when someone swears - thanks.

Hi!
I’m a long time listener from Oslo, Norway.
Just thought I’d point you at this site:
http://press.benettongroup.com/ben_en/image_gallery/campaigns/?branch_id=1109
It’s a collection of images from the same campaign you have mentioned (with the smoking child). The image in question is not shown, but I distinctly remember it being a part of a typical “controversial” Benetton campaign.
Ringing a bell?
