<description>Thanks for another interesting show. I had a read of the pope's encyclical last week and I thought it was very interesting. From what I could understand, he was saying that true love is both eros and agape. We get into strife when we separate them. The second half on charity was also interesting. I remember Fr Bob saying a while ago that someone had said that he might be good at charity work but what would he know about spirituality? I think the pope is saying that charity flows from the same source of love, and is an expression of it. The two are intimately connected. I think it's a bit of a shame that people sometimes (can I say especially the media) latch onto the negative stuff the pope or other church figures have to say, but when they come up with something trully positive it gets forgotten a bit. I thought the editorial in a recent edition of The Table (a UK Catholic paper not known for its friendliness to B16 in the past) was interesting, and they also extracted some good bits of the encyclical. Your listeners might be interested in having a look:

Sorry for this long ramble, but I just wanted to give the pope the credit I think he deserves.
Cheers, and thanks again for another interesting show.
