LISTEN TO THE PODCAST HERE
Hey, someone is actually listening to this! We’re stunned. In appreciation, today we talk about you, your comments, and your offers to support the Father Bob travelling minstrel show. And to prove to you that Citizen Maguire doesn’t always wear that black dress you saw him in on SBS, here is a photo snapped on my phone of him sitting in his freshly-painted office wearing one of his “dead men’s shirts”.

If you want to show your support for The Father Bob Show, don’t forget to VOTE and, more importantly, donate $1 a week to The Father Bob Maguire Foundation by throwing a buck in his PayPal account.

Hey Bob think you totally misunderstood me.
I think you can’t put religion into street work as you mentioned on the podcast. My comment “whoever is not against you is for you” (a quote from Jesus to his disciples) should have had a bit more context. It comes when the disciples are wanting Jesus to tell off some people who are doing Jesus like stuff but who are not part of their clan. Anyway what I was trying to say was…
1) I think faith based organisations doing street work should embrace others wanting to do the same thing even if they do not hold the same religious beliefs. Hence the organisation I work for (which is a non denominational Christian organisation) takes in non Christian volunteers who are “for what we do”
2) If you are ever going to have a meaningful conversation with someone on the street you cannot have any other motive but purely to help (not even preach at them once they have received help) In the organisation I work for training for all volunteers starts with a section on how we are not street evangelists so if people were hoping to do that they’ll need to find another organisations.
Sorry for the confusion…
If you can just quickly mention this in the next podcast would be greatly appreciated this particularly as I know that some people have thought that the Drug ARM WA street van team has been about preaching and I’ve worked hard to make sure this doesn’t happen. I’d hate to think I’d messed that up with a sloppy post on a website.
None the less what you said was relevant as there are organisations who do street work with with the primary aim to evangelise.

By the way Cam, I do get out. And Bob, I’m not demented, well at least I don’t think I am. ;) I just enjoy The Father Bob Show, I enjoy his wisdom & perspective on the world. Cam just wondering which of the other TPN podcasts you think would interest me. C’mon guys we still have to get Safran in on this asking listeners to donate $1. Cheers, Nathan.

Gday Cam and Fatherr Bob,
I set up a PayPal account after listening to show no. 17, got the confirmation within a week and then put $5 credit into that account. (I chose ‘Add Funds’ then ‘Transfer funds from an Australian Bank account.’ This means that I can dole out $1 at a time (or as I choose) without debiting my bank account directly. This makes me feel more comfortable, and the donations I make are debited immediately from my PayPal account.
Couldn’t be easier.
Cheers,
Mark

Hello, sorry for another post it’ll be the last for a while. For those interested and for the sake of my own sanity (defence) I’ve had a look at the comments I’ve made and written a post on my own blog http://achurchlessfaith.blogspot.com/2006/04/what-i-think-about-faith-and-street.html looking at where I stuffed up in my miss communication and what I really meant to say. I’ll be quiet for a while now. :)

Hey Cam & Bob, I think a video pocast would be a great idea. You should take your video camera around one time Cam. I was wondering how the social capitalist website is going? And a question for Bob, I was wondering if he knows of anyone I can contact in Toowoomba to help out? Keep the shows coming guys. Cheers, Nathan.
