The Father Bob Show #57 - Illegal Weddings

We give up our public holiday today to bring you your weekly dose of Father Bob. We talk about his Easter goings on, the fundraiser last week at Riva (rap performance delayed due to Bob losing his lyrics - stay tuned in future podcasts), what is the Bad Religion Bob referred to in his latest blog post, and the Listener Question of the week.

I have obsessive compulsive. It’s no fun.

Bob, an idea for your church, maybe podcast your sermons weekly? Just a thought for international listeners and those who do not have churches near them like a China or something.

By the why, donate if you can people. Consider it your tithe. :)

    Hi Eddie,

When Second Life is up and running, we are going to use audio and perhaps video of Bob in his Spirituality Centre. We plan to also upload that to this site, so it will be a mini sermon. Unfortunately, I can’t get over to Bob’s church weekly to podcast the entire sermon. We live a reasonable distance away from each other.

    Cheers, Michaela.

Bob, I did receive your letter today. Much appreciated. :)

    Hi folks,
While I find the idea of father bob making a weekly podcast of his sermon attractive, I do think that this should be done completely seperately to the father bob show. The things that seperate father bob from a lot of his colleagues are his ‘real world practicality’, his humour and the fact that amongst some of his more frenetic ravings, there is the oppurtunity to pick up on some real peals of wisdom. All done with only passing reference to ‘your jesus’ and the bible.

I feel religion is something that you have to come to yourself rather than have it thrust upon you. I am not a catholic but I do go to mass, partly because fully believe in the message of the bible and because it makes me feel closer to those I love but because of circumstance are far from me (my children live in Hobart with their mum and I live in melbourne).

Have too much of a focus on religion and I feel it may have the effect of pushing some punters away

    Just my 2c

2c, unfortunately my preaching is not much different from TPN.I think we meant for the visuals to brighten up either the blog or an independent site on fatherbob.com. It might LOOK religious but BE spiritual/emotional additive. The last thing I’d/we’d want to do is frighten the punters. Thanks for the caution.Respect.BobMaguire.

Good call John. I think we will host it when we do it on this TPN site, but not call it a “Father Bob Show” as it is not a conversational podcast. We can use the same audio in Second Life.
