This is last week’s slogan. Sorry I was a bit tardy in getting it up.

I drove by for a look a couple days ago and took a picture too.
IT DOESN’T MAKE ANY BLOODY SENSE!!!

rick, read last blog post for further enlightenment.Respect.BobMaguire.

Nope. Still not catching on- neither the podcasting nor your regular blog enlighten my poor dim wits.
What chance a mere Australian has, passing by in the street, I shudder to think.

Rick, I think you may be missing the point as Bob probably doesn’t have magnetic punctuation. Think of it as: “Eagle has landed; who will cast the first stone?”
I’m not sure what you are missing from the podcasting. Please let me know, I would be interested if you could be more specific about what you are not catching. This week was a simple interview spiced up with the regular banter that Bob and I enjoy.
Cheers, Michaela.

What I’m not catching from the podcast, blog, and entire corpus of FMB material is anything that explains the new slogan. Semicolon not helping!
Tonight I’m really really going down to South Melbourne. And if I get the chance I’ll accost the man himself for an explaination.

Rick, all I can say is that you seem to have had a problem with the way we do things for some time now, and you are not under any obligation to continue listening, reading, or understanding. Bob does absolutely vital work (no hyperbole), and chooses to put his views out there for those who wish to avail themselves of them.
In future, perhaps you should limit yourself to more constructive criticism of all that Bob, I, and the foundation team work very hard on in our own free time.

Okay, keep your little secret and don’t tell me what the cryptic slogan means. Whatever turns you on…
I drove past today and took a shot of the new one and it makes perfect sense.

Now that you mention it though, I am slightly pissed off. Since before I came back to Melbourne I’ve been trying to respond to your endless calls for “help” and attempting to find out what help you want and what the objectives are and how palliative aid can make a difference in the world. But while the podcasts spout endless despair at the lack of receptiveness in blogland I get no reply to my best efforts to respond. Not here, and not in the email I wrote to you Michaela.
It’s like the story about the guy who dies and accosts God in the afterlife, “Why didn’t you save me from the disaster that snuffed me?” And God says, “I sent three different people to rescue you but each time you said no thanks, you were waiting for God.”
Perhaps you have all the help you need but, as in my case, you’re ignoring offers.
Whatever the case, last weeks billboard still makes no $%^@~ sense!

Rick,
I don’t have any emails recorded from you. If you did send me one, it must have been quite a while ago, and I’m sorry but I don’t recall it.
The slogan is not cryptic.
You might be pissed off, and I am sorry that you feel that way, but you have not given me any offers of help. All I have got from you is constant whingeing about how you don’t understand what we do.
If you are offering to help, I have a lot of admin work that I need assistance on, so feel free to email me.
May 24th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
You’re right, I’ve made no offer to help. Because- call me crazy- I want to look before I leap. I want understanding before decision, trust before service.
What kinds of fools are you seeking who will blindly join this conga line of goodness knows what? I say, if you want the CONSCIOUS support of real activists (and not these wimpy fair-weather-friendly students) then you’ve got to EARN it.
Do that and then maybe angels like me will line up to help lick stamps for you. ;)

Hello Rick and Michaela.
A few points as far as I understand them (as just a listener)
1. The Father Bob Foundation raises money for Open Family Australia & Emerald Hill Mission. (See the side of fatherbob.com.au) I agree this could be a little more clearer
2. The meaning of the slogan was explained in the last podcast#60 (the eagle is Ben Cousins)
3. Although a minor part of the podcast is looking at raising money for the Father Bob Foundation. Most of it is looking at how we can respond to those of us around us in need. Hence talk of a wikki resource and interviews with other non Father Bob organisations involved inthe community.
4. Finally, asking why someone hasn’t replied to an email you haven’t sent and then telling them they have to EARN your trust first before you actually send an email is just rude. Please at least be nice even if you think the podcast and blog is an incoherant waste of time.
Thanks :)

Hi Chris,
1. Yes, the foundation does raise money for these charities, and Melbourne Lodge, and feeding hungry people at Bob’s parish four times a week, and money for kids to get clothes and books etc. to go to school, and money for people to buy urgent medicine and warm clothing. This is Bob’s Futile Care program.
Most of what people can do to help at the moment is admin and fundraising work to free me up to get onto the wiki and training manual, or to help with that.
I also have been upset by what Rick has said, as it is quite confronting. I have a lot of my own problems, and this just compounds it.
