The Father Bob Show #60 - Interview with Steve Pratt

Hi guys, another interview for you today. My headphones are a little bit busted so I was doing heavy breathing through the lot of it without knowing! So, it’s not Darth Vader returned, but little old me.
Bob and I discuss the baby left at Dandenong Hospital and his experience with an abandoned baby 20 years ago. We are soon joined by Steve Pratt of Virtual Parenting. His company rents out models of babies with data loggers inside that are given mainly to teenagers at school to give them some idea of what it would be like to become parents. While talking about these babies we discover Bob’s secret penchant for Big Brother! Contact Steve at steve at virtualparenting dot com dot au, and go to his website at www.virtualparenting.com.au
Steve has a plan. Random acts of kindness, a lapel pin, the foundation, a membership, and $10. Tell us what you think. A reminder, if anyone would like a copy of “On the road again: A Streetworkers Handbook”, or if you have any other enquiries, please email me at michaela_w at hotmail dot com. Great Shows! Except this one won’t download, “Error 404-Not Found” on the webpage.

  2. Michaela Says:

    Hi Tony,

No one else has reported a problem, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one. I have asked Cameron to look into it.

    Cheers, Michaela.

  3. Cameron Says:

Sorry Tony. There was a small typo in the url for the mp3. now fixed! Let me know if you have more problems!

  4. John McGuinness Says:

Hi there Michaela and Fr Bob,
Great show as usual, I always enjoy listening to your show. It was good to hear the show finish up in a positive note. Bob has been sounding just a little bit down about how things have been progressing with the organization of things but I think Steve brightened him up a bit :)

As for the idea of the pins, I say Great. I would pay $20 for a pin like that.
Maybe you could have slightly different pins for different donations the way legacy or the RSL do.

I wouldnt get too worried about people giving money rather than time though, at least they are giving something.

Keep up the good work Fr Bob, we are listening

    J

  5. Nathan Blyth Says:

Great show guys, really enjoyed the interview. I think that the pin is a great idea. Keep up the great work guys. Cheers, Nathan.

Hey, like the idea of the 12 step kind of thing. It’d be good to be part of a group that promises each other to do a certain list of things each week .
    like…

    1) One random act of kindness to a stranger
    2) Write a letter on behlaf of someone (like Amnesty)
    3) An act of kindness for a friend or loved one
    4) Give 2hrs of your time a week to a charity

Whadda ya reckon? Is that simple enough?

  7. Michaela Says:

Thanks to Nathan, John, and Chris. Your comments sometimes make the difference between things getting done and not getting done when we are having a bad day. Thank you.

Chris, I think that your ideas are great. I’ll talk with the team and see if we can that interlinked with the pins and membership, and ebay. People like Steve and you really do rock with all your ideas

Would some of you like to check out the comments left for me by Rick in the previous thread post and let me know there what you think?

    Cheers, Michaela.
