In today’s show we talk about allegations of drug use by Todd McKenney, Bob’s new list of favourite books to be uploaded to the blog, the Australian leg of the Olympic Torch relay, the pedantry of religious dietary rules vs real world issues, teenage binge drinking, Bob’s time in the Army and summer jobs while studying for the priesthood, his desire to fund more neighbourhood projects, and are vegie plots the answer to the increasing cost of living?

Hello… I’ve only just recently discovered Father Bob’s podcast with Michaela Walsh and while I’m not Catholic or even religious, I thoroughly enjoy it. I first discovered Father Bob during his segment on “John Safran Vs. God” and then all the episodes of “Speaking in Tongues.” Now I’m a devoted listener to “Sunday Night Safran.” Since I’ve just started listening to the “Father Bob Podcast” I’m only up to episode 67 but listen to about 1 a day so will be caught up soon. In several of these episodes you mention trying to get John Safran to do a Skype interview from the USA. Did that ever happen, and if so, which episode? I love listening to Father Bob with John Safran but find that Safran can be rather a bully to Father Bob sometimes, so I’d love to hear an episode with both Safran AND his antithesis, Michaela. Sorry to ask such a broad question in a specific podcast comment page but thanks for any info.

Hi Michael,
Glad to have you on board. However when you catch up to the latest show you’ll have to get used to not being able to listen to us daily!
I am not a religious person either, actually I am an atheist, but my aim in hosting the show is to give Bob a platform to discuss issues that he might have difficulty doing in the mainstream press.
No, Safran never came on the show, he wasn’t too keen on the idea I think.
